Компания IBM обращает внимание партнеров, что вентиляторы, поставляемые в течении последних двух месяцев с оборудованием IBM Power Systems, при работе на максимальной скорости вращения создают уровень шума выше заявленного. Это происходит в результате неправильной калибровки теплового датчика. При этом функциональность и производительность серверов не страдает.
Для устранения этой проблемы необходимо обновить прошивку соответствующего модуля управления. Для получения данного обновления необходимо посетить IBM FIX Central, пройдя по ссылке http://www-933.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/options, и выбрать соответствующий вашему серверу файл:

It has come to our attention that upon installation, a subset of Power Systems shipping from IBM in the past 2 months, may run with fans at maximum speeds as a result of an incorrect calibration on a particular thermal sensor. While the fans may operate at noise levels higher than expected, the server functionality and performance should not be impacted.
A system firmware change has been made available to circumvent this high fan speed issue. Please visit IBM FIX Central at http://www-933.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/options and choose the appropriate selections for your server to get the required update. Please have the client contact IBM support if they have any questions or require further assistance.
